Earn College Credits
Earning college credits through by-pass examinations is an excellent method of advancing your college plan. Generally, you may earn from 3-60 semester hours of credit. At Hickam AFB, the four major types of examinations available are the
CLEP Subject and General Examinations (exam descriptions), DANTES Standardized Subject Tests (exam titles), Excelsior College Exams, and iStudySmart. Passing an examination does not guarantee credit; a college must accept it. Check with the college before signing up for an exam.

Preparation/References
Proper preparation and study are necessary for taking examinations. CLEP and DSST study guides can be found at the Base Library, Base Exchange, and most bookstores. Reference texts for CLEP, DSST, and other examinations are generally available at the Base Library. For more information, visit
Free University Project, Air Force Education Resource Center (Activation Code: FL5260), 4Tests, DANTES, and CollegeBoard.

Helpful Study Hints
Talk to a college counselor about the best test to take. You don't want to take the wrong one! Visit the Base Library and pick up the study guides and video/audio tapes (if available) for the examination(s).

Entrance Exams
Most colleges and universities require an examination for entry into undergraduate and/or graduate programs. Contact the Education Services Office (449-6363) for more information. A few of the more popular examinations are the
Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
